Portrait of Kelly

I recently started working on a new portrait. This is Kelly and she has a beautiful face. For a young lady that just graduated from high school, she looks like she could have stepped out of a scene from an Elizabethan movie. She has a wonderful dimple in her chin, beautiful full lips, curly hair that she wears in a simple braid, and no real need to wear lots of makeup. On top of all this, she has terrific posture which gives her an air of quiet confidence. I could easily place a crown on her head and she could hold court. I enjoyed sketching her so much that I did a complete value underpainting in burnt sienna and burnt umber rather than stopping short at a linear sketch. In fact, I might decide to do this more often. Now on to adding color, if that’s alright with her highness!
