Location: Oklahoma Arts Institute – Quartz Mountain (fly into Oklahoma City, OK and drive into Quartz Mountain)
Description: This class will focus on the essential skills necessary to produce anatomically convincing, color rich portraits in pastels. Participants will work from a live model and instruction on the classical measurements of the head and discussion of common mistakes made in their construction will be included. Participants will be guided through the process of accurate sketching, identification of light vs shadow shapes, and development of beautiful skin tone. Each participant will receive one-on-one guidance and emphasis will be placed on producing an accurate likeness. A familiarity with the use of pastel will be assumed.

Dates/Times: Friday, Dec 9th, 10am-5pm and Saturday, Dec 10th, 9am-4pm
Description: This workshop is open to oil painters and pastel painters. The focus of the workshop will be to heighten each student’s color perception through a modified Hensche method. The first morning will include demonstrations by Ms Hash. In the afternoon, students will paint several small, simple, still-life setups under varied, colored-light situations. The second day students will have the entire day to work on a still-life set-up and practice the skills learned on day one.

Scheduling Instruction or Critiques in Your Area

If you would like to schedule a workshop, demonstration or critique for yourself or your organization, please read the information below and contact Ms Hash.

Ms Hash offers a variety of workshops including drawing, pastel painting, and oil painting.  A minimum of 8 students is required to avoid cancellation of a workshop, and a maximum of 15 is recommended to maintain effective personal instruction. Workshop days include six hours of instruction and a one-hour break for lunch.  The minimum age for participants is 16 years old. Travel expenses and workshop location expenses are paid by the client.

 

One-Day Workshop    $1000

Ms Hash offers a variety of demonstrations in pastel or oils.  Topics are customized to your school’s or art league’s demonstration needs.  Travel expenses and demonstration location expenses are paid by the client.  Travel within 60 miles of Ms Hash’s studio is at no charge.

 

One-Hour Demonstration      $150

Three-Hour Demonstration    $325

 

 

 

 

Ms Hash offers informative critiques on your drawings, pastel paintings and oil paintings via email submission or one-on-one critiques at your studio.  She often says, “We are all traveling the same road of artistic discovery.  We may be at a different place in our travels, but none of us have arrived yet.  We should help each other to keep progressing down the road to make the best art that we can.  Enjoy the journey!”

 

Email Critiques   $50 per critique (limit one artwork)

Studio Critique   $125 per one-hour session (limit two artworks)

 

NOTE: Studio Critiques are held at your studio or designated location, must be within 40 miles of Ms Hash’s studio, and are for a single artist’s work.
