Wow this so cool. Thank you for sharing the steps, photos and the utlimate outcome of this project. Been thinking about plein airing and how im going to do it - what am i going to need. What part of my "Studio" can come with me, what can't. And im hitting the "well the glass palette with grey paper underneath CAN'T come" (too heavy, inconvenient) so i started thinking is it possible to GREY finish a wooden palette. and I've come to your blog! Did you use so much lacquer to make sure it's totally sealed? or was it because you made several palettes? How are your palettes holding up now? :)
